Electrolysis pre- & Post-care instructions
Proper care is essential for achieving the best permanent hair removal results. Here’s how to prepare for and protect your skin before and after your electrolysis sessions:
- Stay hydrated. Hydrated skin and hair respond better to electrolysis and experience less sensitivity.
- Gently exfoliate the area before your appointment to remove buildup and lift ingrowns.
- For sensitive clients: Tylenol may be taken beforehand. If using numbing cream, apply it generously and keep it moist under plastic wrap for 30–60 minutes before your session.
- Avoid waxing, tweezing, or threading during your electrolysis journey. These methods disrupt the follicle and delay permanent results.
- Avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment, as it can increase sensitivity during electrolysis.
- Limit salty foods beforehand to reduce post-treatment inflammation.
- Avoid direct sunlight and always apply sunscreen to prevent irritation on the treated area.
- Skip makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment. If makeup is necessary, apply Neosporin first and use a clean applicator.
- Avoid gyms, saunas, hot tubs, pools, and natural bodies of water for 24–48 hours after your appointment. Heat and bacteria can prolong healing.
- Do not touch, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let the skin fully heal for best results.
